Why I am Newly Obsessed With Spotify

Let me start by saying that I am what many call a “follower” or, in the world of marketing, a “laggard.”  What’s a laggard, you ask?  It simply means that I’m cunning and let other people test-drive products before I buy them…. or that I’m incredibly skeptical and anal-retentive and won’t spend money on something unless a good majority of the population has utilized it for at least a year and has had no issues with it.  It’s one of those two.  I prefer the former.

Anyway, my anal-retentiveness has been preventing me from venturing into the world of streaming music for quite some time.  I’ve been shopping around for about thirteen months now, and I finally made a decision.

I know what you’re thinking – how did I just jump into something like that, so willy nilly?  Well, it was a leap of faith, and my parachute was Spotify.

With Spotify, for a small monthly fee, you can stream just about any song under the sun, create playlists, search top songs…  Instead of getting 10 songs in a month for $10, you get access to 10 million songs for $10.  I’d say that’s a win.

My musical attention span lasts about as long as Dory’s memory in Finding Nemo.  One day I want some Missy Higgins, the next Missy Elliot.  One day I want the Jackson Five, the next Maroon 5.  One day I want Faith Hill, the next I want Lauryn Hill (at her peak – the Sister Act 2 Soundtrack).  One day I want Ricky Martin, the next Dean Martin.  One day I want Tim McGraw, the next Timbaland.

As you can see, my music collection has to be expansive simply to keep up with my daily cravings.  Spotify supplies me with everything I need.  I can even add songs to my playlists on the go, or select a playlist of a certain artist that I’m in the mood for – at no additional cost!

Did I mention that the desktop application is completely free?!  The only time you have to pay is if you want to stream your music on the go by downloading their mobile app.

In the words of Britney Jean Spears, “If You Seek” a “Lucky” experience with music, and a program that will “Gimme More,” look no further.  “Don’t Let Me Be the Last to Know” about this “Crazy” opportunity!  “Do Somethin’” and get Spotify, the “Outrageous” music app that should be on everyone’s “Radar.”

If you had Spotify, you could listen to all of those songs right now to see what I’m talking about.
