The Hunger Games: Catching Fire Casting Update!

While everyone else has been obsessing about “Fifty Shades of Whatever “casting, I’ve been stalking the Hollywood blogs for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire casting news.
Although we have to wait a whole year before the sequel comes out, I already have a good feeling about this. First, they got a new director, Francis Lawrence, of I Am Legend. Confessional moment here my fellow Hunger Games addicts: I loved the movie, but at times I did feel a little motion sickness from all the jostling. So I am excited for the change.

And, they are splitting up Mockingjay into two movies. More Katniss for us!

Okay, the big news yesterday was Lionsgate has finally chosen the actor who is going to play the dreamy District 4 tribute, Finnick Odair. Drumroll please: it’s Sam Claflin from Snow White and the Huntsmen. Well, he doesn’t technically have it yet, but they offered it to him and The Hunger Games Trilogy is the next big franchise, so I don’t see why Sam Claflin would decline, but you never know. Personally, he’s not exactly what I pictured when reading the books nevertheless I am pleased with the casting choice.

In addition to this announcement, Lionsgate also shared more casting information that made me even more excited about the sequel. Tony Shalhoub, famous for his role on Monk, is the frontrunner to play Beetee, of District 3. Amanda Plummer, of Pulp Fiction fame, was casted as District 3 tribute, Wiress aka “Nuts,” and Philip Seymour Hoffman was tapped to play Plutarch Heavensbee.

Jena Malone has already accepted the role of Johanna Mason.  It was rumored that Melissa Leo, from The Fighter, was going to be offered the role of Mags, however, her rep quickly dismissed it saying she was not being offered the role.

I’m sure in the months to come we will hear more rumors about who will play the rest of the tributes. Here’s my advice for all those hopeful actors or actresses… MAY THE ODDS BE FOREVER IN YOUR FAVOR!
