Taylor Swift’s New Single: We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together
On August 13th, Taylor Swift, America’s sweetheart, released her new single “We Are Never Ever Getting Back Together,” which is the first single off her forthcoming album RED set to release on October 22nd of this year.
Taylor announced the album and single on her YouTube channel during a live chat and within a couple of hours of its release it reached number on iTunes. The power of Taylor Swift, whose fan base adores the artist for her honesty when it comes to love, relationships and the trials of growing up, have made her one of the most successful artists since she first entered the music scene in 2006.
The song is very catchy and true to Taylor Swift’s style. And the hook, “We are never ever getting back together” can instantly become the anthem for any girl…or guy that can relate to the on-again-off-again type of relationships. The song is already #1 in 27 countries and is definitely a foreshadowing for what fans can expect in her upcoming album.
Also, the speculation around which of Taylor Swift’s exes she will “never ever” get back together with is now in full media frenzy. One of the reasons Swift is so successful is because she draws from real-life experiences, so every time we hear that she is either dating someone new or has broken up with someone, fans and the world wait on pins and needles to hear the song for that individual. On Swift’s last album we had “Dear John” about John Mayer, “Revenge” about Camilla Bell, and “Back to December” about Taylor Lautner.
Now people are trying to figure out who Swift’s latest song is about, analyzing and dissecting the lyrics. She is a lady though and usually never reveals who each of her songs are about, however, she won’t deny it when people gossip. She enjoys the mystery, leaving little clues within the song, letting her fans try and figure it out. The newest candidate is Joe Jonas, however, I’m pretty sure “You’re Not Sorry” was about him after their very public break up a couple years where Swift said Jonas broke up with her over a phone call that lasted two minutes.
So the mystery continues. Below is a lyric music video released by Taylor Swift, take a listen or two and try to figure out the mystery. Who is the ex she is singing about?
