Sorry ladies and gents, two of Hollywood’s most strikingly gorgeous celebrities are off the market. Blake Lively, best known for her role as Serena van der Woodsen on Gossip Girl and Ryan Reynolds, who will forever be referred to as Van Wilder, tied the knot in a surprise and extremely private ceremony on Sunday. According to E! Online, the Green Lantern costars said “I do” at Boone Hall Plantation in Mount Pleasant, S.C., just outside of Charleston.
E! Online went on to say that their wedding reception was straight out of a movie. In fact, Boone Halle Plantation was used as the summer home of Allie, played by Rachel McAdams in the 2004 film The Notebook. The plantation has also been featured on American Idol, Army Wives and North and South.
Around 60 guests attended the intimate ceremony, but still included some famous faces. According to People.com, Florence Welch (of Florence and the Machine), a good friend of the Gossip Girl star, performed three songs live, and there was a deejay who spun tunes. Additionally, Bette Midler performed for the newlyweds and their guests.
The Martha Stewart Weddings team had exclusive coverage of the event and revealed that the bride and her bridesmaids walked down the aisle in custom Marchesa gowns designed by Blake’s friends, Georgina Chapman and Keren Craig, with shoes created by Christian Louboutin. The groom and groomsmen wore specially made Burberry suits with custom leather suspenders designed by the groom’s friend, Christopher Bailey. The couple’s rings were designed by jeweler Lorraine Schwartz. Additional wedding details will be revealed in the winter issue of Martha Stewart Weddings, out in December.
Sunday’s wedding was Blake’s first trip down the aisle, and Ryan’s second. The 34-year-old actor was married to Scarlett Johansson in 2008, announced their separation in December 2010 and finalized their divorce in July 2011. Ryan was also engaged to Alanis Morissette from 2004-2007, but they never made it down the aisle. According to Fox News, Blake and Ryan have been “linked” for almost a year, but they never really confirmed they were dating. The duo bought a home together in Bedford, N.Y. earlier this year, and managed to fly under the Hollywood radar with their secret wedding.
Congratulations to Mr. and Mrs. Reynolds!
