Renegade Suits: A Hot Date that Doesn’t Break the Bank

>

Dating in the city can definitely be expensive from time to time. No one wants to be a miser, but if you put some thought into it you don’t have to break the bank to woo the lady. I’ve been living in the city for about 3 years now and loving it thus far. Central Park is really close by so I’m constantly walking and running around in there. For the longest time I’ve always wanted to rent a row boat at the Boathouse and take a date out there. I kept talking about it, but it just never seemed to happen.

Finally, this past weekend a couple of my guy and girl friends were out at brunch trying to figure out what to do for the day. The row boats came up and shockingly none of them have been out on the water either. I know it sounds a little overrated, but we decided to go for it. We walked around, got some ice cream and hit up the boats. I never realized how cheap the rental was, just $12! (There is a $20 deposit but you get that back at the end). As soon as we hit the water all the girls faces lit up, an instant mood lifter. To be honest, I didn’t see one unhappy face on the water the enitre time.

It’s a really cool vibe being out there and looking at the people on the paths and bridges, let alone all the turtles and ducks swimmming about. After rowing around the lake for a bit we put on the cruise control, some music on the phone and just relaxed. Everyone talked about how dope of a day-date this would be, getting to know someone better somewhere other than the dinner table. Even on a brisk fall day the date would be a winner, nothing a blanket can’t fix. So dudes, if you are looking to go on a date without dropping bank: Ice cream, row boats, a drink or two at the boathouse. Guaranteed good time.

Leave it to me to write about this in the fall, but the boats are available through November, weather permitting of course.
