Out With the Heat, In With the Fabulous

Fall is around the corner, I can feel it.  I can literally feel it, because I stopped sweating for the first time since I moved to New York City.  It is dangerous living in the central coast of California because you get spoiled and forget what actual weather feels like–humidity for example.  What you do acquire is a deep appreciation for something as simple as the first brisk breeze in the middle of September.  Not only did it provide me temporarily relief from what I believed to be my new permanent state of suffocation, but it got me looking forward to all the cozy perks of the approaching season.  Here are just a few I’ve experienced already:

Pumpkin Spice Lattes

Before the weather even hits me, I always know Fall is near when Starbucks starts advertising Pumpkin Spice Lattes.  I could be unconscious for ten years, wake up to a Pumpkin Spice Latte and know that I had found myself in the middle of this delicious season.   It’s the perfect combination of sweet and spice, while still providing my fuel, better known as caffeine.

Note: Beware guzzling a venti Pumpkin Spice Latte if your body has been on a 6-month hiatus from these delectable, but slightly heavier Starbucks holiday specialties.  Your stomach will punish you.

Cuddling up to the classics.

I finally received a few a boxes of my belongings from California in the mail the other day and nestled in between my long awaited Anthropologie dishes was my vast DVD collection condensed into two huge CD cases.  By some odd coincidence, (most likely too much time together in an empty apartment), my roommate and I both ended up watching Boy Meets World in our rooms.  There’s something about the nostalgia of watching a childhood favorite that makes you feel safe and cozy.  Top with milk and cookies and you’ll literally have no reason to leave your bed.

Considering I own 5 seasons of Boy Meets World alone, I see many long nights in the future for us crazy girls.

FALL. WARDROBE.

I love the three S’s of summer (sundresses, shorts and sandals) just as much as the next girl, but come fall I’m ready to shimmy back into my knee-high boots, chunky sweaters and funky scarves.  I absolutely love layering and the cold weather practically begs for such styling measures.  I’m a sucker for accessories, so any season that allows me to get away with more is an instant favorite.

We’re almost to the finish line, ladies.  That long marathon they call summer is approaching its end.  While we have to leave behind warm nights, short shorts, and half-naked men, Fall promises to be full of new exciting treats.

I just bought a new pair of reddish/brownish boots and I am so excited to wear them as soon as the weather drops a few more degrees! After reading this, I am so pumped for fall. It is one of my favorite seasons.

Although I did not want the summer to end, I also find myself in a particularly perky mood this fall season. In fact, just today, I was thinking about what a fabulous fall day it was, and what fall things I want to do — go apple picking, go hiking, carve pumpkins, you know the typical adult outings! I think that what makes fall so dreadful sometimes is the fact that we all know winter is around the corner. Can’t we have three seasons instead of 4?
