John C. Reilly, Sarah Silverman, Jack McBrayer, and Jane Lynch…sounds pretty good, right? That’s the cast of Disney’s new animated feature Wreck-It Ralph which will be bursting into theaters on November 2nd. The film, which chronicles the adventures of a video game “bad guy” (Ralph) who decides to be good, seems like a certain hit that will follow in the footsteps of Finding Nemo, Up!, and Wall-E as an endlessly charming, feel-good family flick that will be as enjoyable for the kids as it will be for their parents.
But kids and their parents are not the only audience Disney is targeting. Young twenty-somethings and teens will find no shortage of winks to their demographic. The film’s director, Rich Moore, is best known for his work on Futurama and The Simpsons and is clearly equipped to deliver an animated comedy that’s not just for kids. Aside from a cast featuring voices recognizable from 30 Rock and Glee, millennials will find that the film plays homage to the favorite video games of their youth. In the trailer alone there are appearances from Street Fighter’s Zangief, Sonic the Hedgehog, Dr. Robotnik, Bowser, and a Pac-Man ghost.
Given the buzz surrounding the film, Disney seems likely to achieve its goal of making a film that spans all age groups. Not only does this movie look adorable, but it’s hard to believe that the star-studded comedy cast would have signed its name to a film that was anything less than hilarious. All in all, the latest trailer for Wreck-It Ralph seems to guarantee an adorable, action packed adventure full of Disney’s charm and wit. I, for one, can’t wait to gather up my girlfriends and get to the theater. Check out the trailer below.
