Mariah Carey Signs on as American Idol Judge

If you’re anything like me, you were not happy with the latest Idol updates and Jennifer Lopez’s bittersweet departure from American Idol. Well, I have some great news that will put you Idol lovers in a great mood. The one and only Mariah Carey has officially signed on (for about $17-18 Million) to be a judge. Now that Idol has a big time artist, will the ratings finally make a turn for the better? Everyone at Fox seems to think so. Check out what the execs are saying below:

“We are proud to have one of the world’s greatest-ever female singers join our show,” said creator and executive producer Simon Fuller. “Mariah defines the word ‘Idol’ and will inspire every singer that has the honor of performing in front of her.”

“Mariah Carey is the real deal. Not only is she one of the best-selling artists and performers on the planet and one of the world’s most gifted vocalists, she also is a successful songwriter, record producer and actress,” said Mike Darnell, Fox president of alternative entertainment.

With Mariah Carey on board, this will definitely make for an interesting and hopefully amazing season of American Idol. I know I will be watching, will you?
