If you love Girls and Obama then you will definitely enjoy this video. In an effort to encourage voting and support for our current President’s second run for office, Lena Dunham, most notably the creator, writer and star of Girls on HBO is suggestively sharing her experience on her first time…voting, that is!

Dunham plays around with the idea of your first time (ahem, having sex) and says things like your first time should be with “someone who really cares about and understands women” and not with someone “who thinks that gay people should never have beautiful, complicated weddings.” Obviously, she’s flirting with the idea of sex and politics—although many people find it clever, many find it offensive and are questioning its appropriateness.

The minute long video is clearly targeted to a young demographic to make voting more appealing in a fun and pop culture-related way. Since the video came out on October 25th, just a few days ago, it has already been viewed almost 2 million times and has more dislikes than likes on YouTube.

Comments express different reactions. One user says, “I’m a young woman and I did not see anything wrong with this add. It’s really centers on my age group and it’s fun and entertaining to watch,” while some feel that it’s “tacky, tasteless, low, dumb, shallow, foolish.”

Aside from both liberal and conservative opinions regarding the video, most can agree that it is a creative way to attract younger voters.

What about you? What do you think about Lena’s video?
