Gael Garcia Bernal Will Be Showing Off His Junk For FREE! (And, by Junk, I Mean His New Movie.)

Living in the city can be so utterly expensive. Living on ramen and your good looks and charm can be so awfully difficult and tiresome. So what can a girl do without blowing the wad she worked so hard to make the week before? Well here’s something that you might want to make a night of: Gael Garcia Bernal will be promoting his new film, No, as part of the New York Film Festival. The Festival is running now until October 14th.

If you don’t know who Gael Garcia Bernal is, let me give you a refresher. You might remember him in his breakout performance in Amores Perros, as one of the horny guys in Y Tu Mama Tambien, portraying Che Guevara in The Motorcycle Diaries, or maybe in Michel Gondry’s Science of Sleep. If you are a Spanish film buff, you also might remember him in Pedro Almodovar’s Bad Education. He’s a very talented actor with very serious chops but even that is trumped by his good looks that make half of my female friends swoon on mention. Yes, SWOON, on just the mention of his name.

He will be hosting a talk on No with his fellow filmmaker, Pablo Larrain. Based on a true  story, the film takes place in 1988 and chronicles an incredibly brave story  of how a marketing executive used slogans, jingles, and ads focused on a positive future to galvanize Chileans to end dictator Pinochet’s 17 year long reign. No is Pablo Larrain’s third feature film.

Lucky for you, Gael Garcia Bernal’s film will be showing at Alice Tully Hall on October 12th. Also if you want to get tickets to see him speak live, see the NYFF website.  He and Pablo Larrain will be at the Soho Apple Store to speak about his film on both Friday, October 12th at 7 pm and Saturday, October 13th at 3 pm. Tickets are available on standby. So you lucky girls get 2 chances to see if you can catch a glimpse of him. And, if you do end up there, it might be worth hanging around even without a ticket. Why? Because someone might have one to give away, they might let you in standby, or you might just happen to bump into Gael climbing in or out of his limo. In this town, YOU NEVER KNOW. Life’s funny that way.

Will you check it out? Will you or have you seen Gael’s films? We welcome your thoughts! Cute guy spotting is also always welcome!
