DIRECTV, Give Me Back My MTV!
Ah, TV renewal time. There is nothing quite like the time of year when all big cable/satellite providers like Time Warner, Dish, & DirecTV try not to pay more money to the cable networks. Unfortunately, it doesn’t always work to everyone’s advantage.
A few weeks ago, Dish dropped all 4 of AMC Networks and most recently, DirecTV dropped all 26 of Viacom’s networks. According to USA Today, Viacom wants an increase on what DirecTV pays to have all the networks through their service and it looks like DirecTV does not want to pay the price.
DirecTV has tried to pacify its customers, noting that many of the Viacom networks such as MTV & Comedy Central have, including full episodes available online. Of course to counteract this claim, Viacom has pulled many of those episodes causing even more irritation among paying DirecTV customers. With shows like Snooki & Jwow (MTV), Love & Hip Hop Atlanta (VH1), and Sponge Bob on Nickelodeon now missing from the lineup, customers (all 20 million of them) are going CRAZY and taking their complaints to Facebook & Twitter. Take a look at what people are saying below:
“Dear Direct TV … I want my expensive service to include all the channels I once had. Thanks,” wrote reality-TV star and NBA wife Khloe Kardashian.Source: redOrbit (http://s.tt/1hMWg)
“This is ridiculous, I’ve only had DirecTV for 6 months and this is the SECOND time that we’ve lost channels that we watch on a regular basis,” wrote one fan on DirecTV’s Facebook page.
If you have DirecTV, are you going to cancel your service and get another one that gives you all of your favorite Viacom networks? Let us know!
