Bold, Bright Lips
The new trend is a striking, bright lip. However, for the less adventurous this can be a never-obtained trend. Below are three looks that give you the variety to choose your own version of a bright lip. And don’t worry, Harper and I have tried all three and know that any Renegade Chick can incorporate at least one into their arsenal of beauty tactics.
If you want to make a bold statement, you need to try a red lip. This can be paired with any chic look, whether that includes an up-do with a sleek black dress for a wedding or cocktail party, a super-slicked ponytail paired with a studded black top and some killer peep toes, or a white tee, tossled hair, and some distressed skinnies. Remember, the lip needs to be what makes the statement so keep your eye makeup very clean and simple. Throw on a bronze mineral eyeshadow with a bold, black eyeliner and you are set to turn heads. (Renegade Recommended: MAC Viva Glam I Lipstick, MAC Lip Pencil in Cherry).
If you think red may not be your color, and want to try something that can be bold while a little funky, try bright pink or fuschia lipstick topped with a lip gloss (use the lipgloss in the center of your lips only). For all my girls that love neon, this is your bold lip pairing! This lip combination can be worn in the day and night, so truly embrace it. You will definitely break some hearts. This is also a bold, bright look so no need to go crazy on the eye makeup. Feel free to use it with a gold/bronze base shadow, a medium brown matte for the crease, and a deep brown in the far corners of your eyelid. Use the deep brown sparingly to not compete with the lip. (Renegade Recommended: MAC Lipstick in Impassioned, MAC Hey Sailor! Lipglass in Cut Loose or MAC Lipglass in Casual Air, and MAC Lip Pencil in Cherry).
Now for those of you who don’t think this bold/bright trend is your thing, or for those who want a more subtle look for the day, try a moisture stick in a brighter pigment. This can be both work and play appropriate. The best part about this option is it gives your lips the moisture of a chapstick, but the color of a sheer lipgloss. You can even wear this color out if you want to pair it with a more smokey lid. Subtle bright lips look great with smokey greys and silvers, plums, and taupes. This will help you stay in your comfort zone, but with a extra little POP. (Renegade Recommended: Clinique Chubby Stick in Chunky Cherry or Woppin’ Watermelon)
