Babe on a Budget: Sheer Blouses

This new trend is summer chic and celebrities all around seem to be showing off their skin beneath this light and see-through fabric. Don’t be fooled though—simply because many people are wearing these tops, doesn’t mean that they’re easy to pull off. It takes a lot of confidence to rock these bold transparent pieces. You are literally allowing the public to view your undergarments along with the rest of your torso.

My first piece of advice when wearing this trend is to make sure that you’re wearing a great bra. If you’re going to allow the world to see your bra then it best be a good one! It should fit properly (your nipples should not be slipping out!) and be in good condition. And last but not least, the bra should work with the top that you’re wearing! Since it is going to be visible, think of your bra as an accessory to your outfit. It can either clash or compliment. You want to make sure it’s the latter.

Sheer tops can be a bit tricky. They’re great to wear out on a date or out to a bar or even during the day. They can easily be paired with shorts, skirts and bright pants. But are they appropriate to wear to work? I would argue that they are—depending on the work environment. But if you truly feel uncomfortable, an easy fix to be able to wear this style to work in the office is to wear a simple cami underneath.
