Looking for a way to be sexy in a subtle and stylish way? Well then sheer tops and blouses are exactly what you’re looking for!
This new trend is summer chic and celebrities all around seem to be showing off their skin beneath this light and see-through fabric. Don’t be fooled though—simply because many people are wearing these tops, doesn’t mean that they’re easy to pull off. It takes a lot of confidence to rock these bold transparent pieces. You are literally allowing the public to view your undergarments along with the rest of your torso.
My first piece of advice when wearing this trend is to make sure that you’re wearing a great bra. If you’re going to allow the world to see your bra then it best be a good one! It should fit properly (your nipples should not be slipping out!) and be in good condition. And last but not least, the bra should work with the top that you’re wearing! Since it is going to be visible, think of your bra as an accessory to your outfit. It can either clash or compliment. You want to make sure it’s the latter.
Sheer tops can be a bit tricky. They’re great to wear out on a date or out to a bar or even during the day. They can easily be paired with shorts, skirts and bright pants. But are they appropriate to wear to work? I would argue that they are—depending on the work environment. But if you truly feel uncomfortable, an easy fix to be able to wear this style to work in the office is to wear a simple cami underneath.
Charlotte Russe is an awesome and affordable place to shop for this trend! They seem to have pieces that would work and range in all aspects of life! Check them out:
The first piece pictured above, on the left-hand side is a cute, collared and polka dot sleeveless blouse—absolutely perfect to wear to work during the summertime. The pattern deflects the fact that it’s sheer and the collar adds a professional vibe to it. Buy this pleated piece for only $22.99 and rock it with a sleek pencil skirt or high-wasted pants.
The second sheer top above is fun and flirty! The bright pink color is perfect for summer and the lacey shoulders give it an extra layer of sexiness, because once again, you’re showing off your skin without it being exposed. Purchase it for only $22.99 and pair it with a bold patterned skirt of dark skinny jeans and you’ll be able to take it from day to night with no problem!
The third blouse above comes in a beautiful blue color! The bell-like sleeves can be left alone or rolled up for a more polished look. Since the color is so bold, I would pair it with a white bottom—just like pictured above. To make it more casual, I’d rock this top with a pair of white shorts or funky colored pants for an even brighter look! This top is also $22.99.
The fourth and final sheer top that I’m showcasing from Charlotte Russe is the simplest and most casual of them all. Currently, at only $15, I would say this top is a steal. The light blue shade of this blouse feels like daytime to me. I’d wear it out for brunch with the girls with a cute skirt or your favorite pair of jeans.
What do you all think of this trend? Do you think that it works well or that it should stay on the runway?
